WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) was selected as one of 20 leaders from across the country to join the NewDEAL (Developing Exceptional American Leaders), a national network of state and local elected officials working to enact progressive, innovative solutions in a diverse array of communities.

“As we continue to build on progress and equality of opportunity for people in Washtenaw County and across the state, I look forward to sharing the lessons we have learned and hearing from other leaders who are setting the standard for effective governance,” said Rep. Lasinski. “I’m excited to be a part of this new class and to work with them on NewDEAL’s efforts to expand opportunity in communities nationwide.”

This appointment reflects Rep. Lasinski’s commitment to expanding opportunities for Michigan’s small businesses and her support for providing our public education system with the tools necessary to prepare students for success. Rep. Lasinski and her peers in this new class of leaders will share ideas and work to develop policy recommendations that NewDEAL provides to lawmakers across the country.

Rep. Lasinski’s experience as a small business owner continues to motivate her advocacy for innovative policies that encourage growth amongst Michigan’s small businesses community in the new economic landscape. Her recent introduction of House Bills 4252 and 4253, the “Michigan Jobs First Package,” alongside fellow NewDEAL inductee Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-Brownstown Township), demonstrates her willingness to take concrete steps towards those ends.
