LANSING — State Rep. Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) applauded Gov. Rick Snyder’s announcement in his last State of the State address that he would be seeking an expansion of broadband internet service so that every Michigan family has equal access to high-speed internet.
“I am looking forward to working with the governor’s office on expanding broadband internet," said Rep. Lasinski. “Too many of my neighbors lack access to the high-speed internet service they need so that entrepreneurs can develop their home-based businesses, students can complete homework and all families can have equal opportunity to succeed.”
Lasinski introduced House Bill 4162 last February, which would allow townships to use special assessments to fund broadband and communications projects in areas that still need high-speed internet.
“My constituents are saying enough is enough,” said Lasinski. “I was heartened to hear Gov. Snyder add his voice to these efforts. We need to ensure we are using every tool in the toolbox to expand access to opportunity to every one of our neighbors in Michigan.”
