This Is Your House: Listening Tour Town Hall

What do you care about? Education? Health Care? Roads?

Share your priorities with your Washtenaw County state representatives at our Listening Tour Town Hall on Thursday, April 13. I am pleased to invite state Reps. Yousef Rabhi, Adam Zemke and Ronnie Peterson to the 52nd House District to hear what residents across Washtenaw County want to see from the Michigan Legislature.

Enjoy the warmer weather and hopefully some sun this weekend by strolling or biking the 5-mile trail through Mill Creek Park along the Huron River in Dexter. You might even spot a few tree buds or flowers peeking through the ground!

Legislative Update

Energy Committee

The House Committee on Energy Policy discussed and voted on three Senate concurrent resolutions (SCRs) last Tuesday. SCR 6 calls upon Congress to appropriate funds from the Nuclear Waste Fund for the establishment of a permanent disposal site for high-level nuclear waste, or else reimburse electric utility customers who paid into the fund. SCR 8 urges the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to establish a permanent solution for the handling of high-level nuclear waste. SCR 9 urges the president and Congress to explore and support policies that would help establish facilities in the United States to reprocess and recycle spent nuclear fuel.

In efforts to ensure that already existing nuclear waste is properly and permanently disposed of, I voted with my colleagues in committee unanimously in favor of all three of these Senate Concurrent Resolutions. They now await further action on the House floor.
