LANSING – State Representative LaTanya Garrett (D-Detroit) helped recognize reserve police officer Roderick B. Jones on the floor of the House last Tuesday. The Highland Park public safety official was shot and killed last month while off duty. Prior to his service for the city of Highland Park, Jones was an Army Ranger weapons specialist who was honorably discharged in 2008 after completing 360 missions within a year’s time.

“People like Mr. Jones decided to dedicate their lives to helping others. The whole city of Highland Park has experienced a loss,” Garrett said. “We always need to recognize the sacrifices of public safety officials like him.”

Rep. Garrett recognized Jones’ father, Roderick C. Jones, on the floor of the House and presented him with a legislative tribute.
