DEARBORN HEIGHTS — State Representative Lauren Plawecki (D-Dearborn Heights) took the oath of office Thursday to begin serving as state representative in the Michigan House of Representatives. Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra administered the oath. Plawecki represents the 11th District, which comprises all of Garden City and Inkster, and portions of Dearborn Heights, Livonia and Westland.
“It is an amazing honor to assume the office of state representative, and I’m so thankful to have this opportunity,” Plawecki said. “I will make the most of my time in office by diligently serving the residents of the 11th House District.”
Plawecki fills the seat vacated by former state Rep. Julie Plawecki, who died earlier this year. Plawecki graduated with highest honors from the University of Michigan, earning a bachelor’s degree in art history. She has worked in art museums across the globe, including the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Norton Simon Museum in California.
