DETROIT — State Rep. Leslie Love (D-Detroit) will host the annual “Biking with the Rep” event on Saturday, July 15, at 9 a.m. at El Bethel Baptist Church, 25925 Grand River Ave. in Redford Township. Participation is free, but Love asks riders to RSVP with her office by calling (855) LOVE-010. Registration is also required on site at 8:30 a.m. Riders must use a helmet.

“I’m proud to be part of a growing tradition that brings people together, in and around the community, all while promoting healthy outdoor activity,” Love said. “I look forward to another successful event next month.”

Biking offers health benefits to riders and economic and environmental benefits to communities. An hour of bicycling can burn 500 or more calories and contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Bicycling to destinations instead of driving a car also keeps pollutants from entering the air.

“When we talk about taking steps to improve our lives and protect our environment, no action is too small,” Love said. “I encourage my friends and neighbors to join this ride, get to know your community and help us build on this tradition.”
