Manoogian Commits to Support Measures to Protect Workers’ Wages and Healthcare and Ensure Competition for State Contracts

LANSING, Mich. —Rep. Mari Manoogian (D-Birmingham) released the following statement in support of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Michigan Jobs First Executive Directive 2019-15, which would allow Michigan companies to compete fairly for state contracts while maintaining overall protections for workers’ wages and healthcare:

“I’m proud to support Governor Whitmer’s Michigan Jobs First Executive Directive because it is critical that we ensure businesses who compete for state contracts operate with good, ethical business standards, including treating their employees with dignity and respect by paying a fair wage and providing quality healthcare, and showing good environmental stewardship,” said Rep. Manoogian. “By supporting businesses that provide workers fair wages and benefits, I know that we can put Michigan on the path to recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Rep. Mari Manoogian represents the communities of Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, and the eastern portion of West Bloomfield Township. In addition to serving as Deputy Whip for the Michigan House Democratic Caucus, she is also the Minority Vice Chair of the House Committee on Energy and is a member of the House Committee on Commerce and Tourism.
