LANSING – State Representative Derek Miller (D-Warren) has been appointed to serve as an assistant Democratic Floor Leader for the 2015-16 legislative session. The appointment was announced by Democratic Floor Leader Sam Singh (D-East Lansing).

“It is an honor to be appointed to serve as an assistant Democratic Floor Leader,” said Miller. “I look forward to being a part of the floor leader’s team and playing an active role during session as we debate policy and advocate for Democratic proposals and legislation.”

“We have some very passionate and talented people joining us this year, and I’m excited to see many great things come from our new and returning members. We’re a very dynamic caucus, focused on improving the lives of all of Michigan’s citizens through quality schools, a growing economy and assisting our seniors,” said Singh. “We plan to play a very active role this legislative session, and I believe this group of individuals will be a tremendous benefit and I’m happy to have them as part of the leadership team.”

Miller joins a team of four assistant floor leaders including Reps. Gretchen Driskell (D-Saline), LaTanya Garrett (D-Detroit) and Jeremy Moss (D- Southfield).
