LANSING — During the month of March, state Representative Kristy Pagan (D-Canton) will be visiting schools throughout Canton, Belleville and Van Buren Township to help celebrate March is Reading Month. On Friday, she read to classrooms at Bentley Elementary School and Miller Elementary School, and on Monday, she was at Edgemont Elementary and Canton Charter Academy. She will be continuing her visits with stops at Tyler Elementary, Crescent International Academy, Walker-Winter Elementary School, Dodson Elementary School and Workman Elementary School. Additional visits will be scheduled at schools throughout the district for the remainder of the month.

“As someone who truly values our educational system, it is always an honor to be invited to share a book with our students,” Rep. Pagan said. “Our children are the future of Michigan and encouraging reading at a young age is a crucial component to their success.”

Studies show that reading is not only critical to a student’s education, but it also helps improve social and intellectual development. “March is the perfect time to pick up a book and promote the love of reading to our children,” Rep. Pagan said. “I am looking forward to my visits and am excited to spend some quality time with so many enthusiastic students.”
