LANSING -State Representative Rose Mary C. Robinson (D-Detroit) today joined with her Democratic colleagues in continuing their opposition to the expansion of the Education Achievement Authority (EAA).
“It is outrageous to think about expanding the EAA when it is failing our children in Detroit. Many students proficient in math and reading are no longer proficient after attending the EAA. My six children attended the Detroit Public Schools, including Murray Wright, Western, Renaissance and Cass Tech. We must renew our commitment to our children by strengthening our Detroit Public Schools. Students deserve the same quality public education my children received,” said long-time Detroit attorney and state Representative Rose Mary C. Robinson.
State Representative Rose Mary Robinson is serving her first term representing Michigan’s 4th House District, which includes Hamtramck and portions of Detroit.
Robinson, a former attorney for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Union Council 25, was one of the first women ever elected to the Wayne County Commission in 1970. Before being elected to the Michigan House of Representatives, Robinson also served as a member of the Detroit Charter Revision Commission from 2009-2012. Robinson holds a law degree from Wayne State Law School. Robinson, a mother of six, lives in Detroit.
