EAST LANSING – State Representative Sam Singh (D-East Lansing) released the following statement in response to a report released today by the Michigan Public Service Commission in its review of the Lansing Board of Water and Light’s response to the December 2013 ice storm and subsequent power outage:
“I appreciate the MPSC’s thorough review of both BWL’s internal report and the comprehensive external report of the Community Review Team. Today’s report further underscores the recommendations of the CRT and supports the conclusion that shortcomings in management and planning contributed to the duration of the outage. I welcome the thirty recommendations made by the MPSC and believe that compliance with these recommendations will make the BWL more responsive and better prepared. I also fully concur with the MPSC that BWL Board of Commissioners should be more diverse and reflect the expertise that comprised the CRT.”
