LANSING, Mich., April 11, 2022 — In a follow-up to his introduction of House Resolution 260 more than two weeks ago, state Rep. Tyrone Carter (D-Detroit) sent a letter to Government Operations Committee Chairman Mike Mueller (R-Linden) requesting his resolution be granted a hearing. The resolution was immediately, upon introduction, assigned to the Government Operations Committee in the House and has received no consideration, nor has any intent to grant it consideration been signaled by the committee.

“Recently, I wrote directly to the committee Chair Mike Mueller. It is common practice to make a request this way, and this is not the first time I’ve done so, but I wanted to make clear to the Chairman that I would not be satisfied to see this resolution languish in committee without getting proper consideration. This issue, the alleged misdeeds and misuse of office by former Speaker Lee Chatfield, is too important for that. Michiganders deserve answers about what the former speaker is alleged to have orchestrated behind closed doors and this resolution is our pathway to illuminating the truth,” Carter said. “When I introduced this resolution, I said this investigation lives or dies at the discretion of the Speaker. Today, the future of this resolution is in the hands of Representative Mike Mueller, and that’s why I wrote to him.”
