STERLING HEIGHTS – State Representative Henry Yanez (D-Sterling Heights) is letting his constituents know that services are available to those who need home heating assistance this winter.
“I responded to countless calls as a paramedic and firefighter from people worried about a neighbor or family that might be literally freezing to death in their homes,” Yanez said. “These situations are absolutely preventable thanks to the resources and help offered in Michigan, and I want residents in my district to have all the help they deserve to get through the winter”
The website www.HeatingMyHome.org provides consumers with easy access to federal, state and local home heating assistance programs. These resources are available to households throughout the state of Michigan. For example, in every county there are agencies that provide heating assistance, including the Michigan Department of Human Services and the United Way, which operates the 2-1-1 help line.
The website also provides weatherization information that can save homeowners money on their home heating bills.
