LANSING – State Representatives Andy Schor (D-Lansing) and Sam Singh (D-East Lansing) today took the oath of office during the official opening of the 97th session of the Michigan House of Representatives. Schor will represent House District 68, which covers part of the city of Lansing and all of Lansing Township. Singh will represent House District 69, which covers part of the cities of East Lansing and Lansing, and all of Locke, Meridian and Williamstown Townships.
“I’m excited to officially start legislative session so we can get to work on our priorities for our state. For me, those priorities include recommitting to investing in education, creating good-paying jobs for our working families, and revitalizing Michigan’s communities,” Schor said. “I look forward to working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to accomplish this and am optimistic about our ability to be successful if we’re able to come together on the issues important to Michigan’s citizens.”
“I thank the residents of House District 69 for their confidence in me and I am ready to represent them and be their voice at the state Capitol,” said Singh. “I will join with my colleagues to create a better plan to improve our local economies, ensure that our students get an education that prepares them for college and work, and create tax fairness for our families and senior citizens,” said Singh.
