BAY CITY – State Representative Charles Brunner (D-Bay City) is inviting residents to a town hall meeting where they can learn tips from an expert on how to protect themselves against the growing, invisible crime of identity theft. The meeting will take place on Friday, June 3, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Carriage House in Bay City. The address is 2394 Midland Road.

“As I work on important issues like creating jobs and protecting our schools, I also want to help our residents protect their hard-earned money,” Brunner said. “Identity theft is a growing crime that can wipe out your finances and ruin your credit before you even know it. It can take years and thousands of dollars to recover, and many victims never get their money or their credit rating back. The important thing is to learn simple steps we can all take to stop it from happening in the first place. I’m glad to offer this short meeting with a great expert who will provide those tips.”

The guest speaker at Brunner’s meeting will be Michigan State Police Lt. John Card, an expert on identity theft.

Everyone is welcome at the meeting, and there is no need to RSVP. Anyone with questions is encouraged to call Brunner’s office at (517) 373-0158 or toll-free (866) 737-0096, or email him atcharlesbrunner@house.mi.gov.
