LANSING, Mich., Dec. 14, 2023 — State Rep. Julie Rogers (D-Kalamazoo) will host an event in partnership with Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health on Saturday, Dec. 16, to distribute holiday food boxes to veterans and their immediate families. In addition, veterans will receive a resource guide to assist them in identifying and obtaining benefits and assistance they qualify for as a result of their military service.
“As families come together to celebrate the holidays, it is important that we remember our veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country. Providing our veterans with a meal to brighten their holiday celebrations and thank them for their service is the least we can do,” said Rogers, a practicing physical therapist and member of the House Military, Veterans and Homeland Security Committee.
“Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health is happy to be partnering with state Rep. Julie Rogers, and others, to provide holiday food baskets for our local veterans and military families in need during this holiday season. It is but a small gesture in thanks for their sacrifice and service to our country,” said Anne Wickham, chief administrative officer for Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health.
Veterans and their immediate family can stop by the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services parking lot located at 311 E. Alcott St. in Kalamazoo between 10 a.m. and noon to choose from a basket with either a turkey or ham dinner with sides included. Proof of veteran status must be provided.
