MUSKEGON — The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy (EGLE) recently announced a series of grants awarded to communities throughout the state to aid in funding scrap tire drop-off events. These events provide the opportunity for residents to dispose of tires in a safe, environmentally friendly manner. For the second year in a row, Muskegon County and the city of Muskegon Heights will receive $40,000 and $6,000, respectively. State Rep. Terry Sabo (D-Muskegon) issued the following statement in response:
“We have a duty to protect our environment, and it is becoming increasingly important to devote resources toward that end. I would like to thank the EGLE for understanding the importance of protecting our natural resources in the greater-Muskegon area and ensuring we have the means to do so effectively.”
