LANSING, Mich., July 26, 2022 — The Consumers Energy Foundation is providing $500,000 to help Muskegon Heights and Oxford start major downtown and community transformations. The two communities, in West Michigan and Metro Detroit, will each receive $250,000 from the foundation’s annual Prosperity Awards. State Rep. Terry Sabo (D-Muskegon) issued the following statement in response:
“I want to express my immense gratitude to the Consumers Energy Foundation for the generous community development grant. The funds the foundation has graciously awarded to the Muskegon community will improve a central point of our downtown, Rowan Park, making it an even better asset for residents; plus, it is sure to spur further development in surrounding areas. The enhancements will include completing an art sculpture and adding a splash pad, fountain and promenade — this is going to be such a fun spot for friends and families to gather in Muskegon. The coming improved Rowan Park is not just about community development, it’s about fostering community connection. Being granted this award speaks to how our community wants change and unity.”
