LANSING, Mich., Oct. 23, 2020 – The Bureau of Indian Affairs formally published a Notice Availability of a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) today for the Little River Band of Ottawa Indian’s casino project at a former racetrack in Fruitport Township. In the FEIS, it was concluded that the casino project is preferred over a range of other proposed economic development alternatives. In response, state Rep. Terry Sabo (D-Muskegon) issued the following statement:

“I’m very pleased to see the tribe was able to make progress at the federal level and take this significant step forward in the approval process. I stand ready to do whatever necessary to make this casino a reality and bring an estimated 3,000 jobs to our community. The economic impact of this project cannot be overestimated, and it’s just another example of the revitalization of the greater Muskegon area.”

A public comment period following the publication of the FEIS is forthcoming. Visit www.littlerivereis.com for more information.
