LANSING, Mich., Jan. 21, 2021 — Today, Michigan House leadership announced committee assignments for the 2021-2022 legislative session. State Rep. Terry Sabo (D-Muskegon) was once again appointed to serve on the House Appropriations Committee, within which he will again serve as Democratic Vice Chair of the General Government subcommittee, as well as on the Corrections and Transportation subcommittees. Sabo was also appointed as Democratic Vice Chair of the Committee on Workforce, Trades and Talent giving him the distinction as the lone Democrat to lead on both policy and appropriations committees.

“I want to thank House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski for appointing me as the Democratic Vice Chair of the Committee on Workforce, Trades and Talent,” said Sabo. “It is humbling to have her confidence in me leading our Democratic members on this committee which is slated to work on issues directly related to working-class Michiganders. Democrats have long been the political party that has consistently stood up for these values and rest-assured, they are at the top of my priority list in the Michigan Legislature. As our economy begins to rebound from the pandemic, investing in workforce development, skilled trades, and worker-friendly policies will be key to our state’s economic recovery.”

The General Government subcommittee is responsible for funding concerning, among other things, the Unemployment Insurance Agency and revenue sharing — one of Sabo’s top priorities when he was elected.

“As for my continued role on the Appropriations Committee and General Government subcommittee, improving our UIA system and increasing state revenue sharing so local governments have the resources they need have long been priorities of mine, so I am eager to continue that work.”

Sabo is serving his third term representing Michigan’s 92nd House District, which includes the cities of Muskegon, Muskegon Heights and North Muskegon along with the townships of Muskegon, Laketon, Fruitland and Whitehall.
