MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich., March 10, 2020 — Today the House passed a Supplemental Budget Bill that includes $2 million of transition funding for Hackley Community Care in Muskegon Heights. The funding is for the ongoing transition of patients from Muskegon Family Care due to an unpredictable financial future going forward and because no financial plan has been released to the local community.

“I have been in constant contact with local stakeholders about the need to assist patients with continued quality health care. These patients have no guarantee of continued medical, dental and behavioral health care at Muskegon Family Care due to their precarious financial struggle. The patients of these facilities have done nothing wrong and deserve to have their health care protected. My hope is that Muskegon Family Care is able to become financially stable under its new leadership giving patients more choices for their healthcare.”

“I trust my local health care leaders when they say they need this transition funding to keep Hackley Community Care fully funded over the next six months while they care for the additional 6,000 – 7,000 patients they have received.”
