LANSING, Mich., Jan. 26, 2022 — Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her fourth State of the State address from Detroit Diesel. Her remarks highlighted her proposals to cut taxes, invest in infrastructure and offer financial relief to seniors. State Rep. Helena Scott (D-Detroit) issued a statement in support of the governor’s priorities:

“Gov. Whitmer understands what the people of Michigan want and what it takes to get it done. I applaud her efforts to rebuild our bridges, replace miles and miles of lead pipes to ensure clean drinking water, and provide skills training so everyone in our community has a chance to succeed. In particular, I am glad that she’s proposed eliminating the retirement tax and increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit to offer the seniors and working Michiganders the relief they need. I will work tirelessly to make this vision for Michigan a reality.”
