LANSING — State Sen. David Knezek (D-Dearborn Heights) and State Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn) were able to secure $1 million in funding in this year’s budget for two Dearborn museums. The funding includes:

• $500,000 enhancement grant for The Henry Ford Museum;
• $500,000 enhancement grant for The Arab American National Museum

The Henry Ford Museum is internationally recognized for bringing the past to life by immersing visitors in the stories of innovation that shaped America. The Arab American National Museum is the only museum in the United States devoted to Arab American history and culture.

“Dearborn is home to several internationally recognized museums,” said Hammoud. “It’s rewarding to have secured funding in this year’s budget to help expand the impact of these iconic Dearborn institutions. This is a big win for our community, region and state, as more children will be inspired to learn and explore our history and rich diversity.”

“I am thrilled that the collaborative effort with my colleague in the House led to securing this funding,” said Knezek. “The Henry Ford Museum and the Arab American National Museum are vital to our community and state, and they draw an abundance of tourists each year. Focusing on history, culture and the arts is a necessity for current and future generations.”
