LANSING, Mich., Oct. 31, 2023 — Today, the Transportation, Mobility, and Infrastructure Committee voted out Senate Bill 533, sponsored by state Sen. Erika Geiss (D-Taylor). This bill will allow the Secretary of State (SOS) to issue electronic vehicle titles. State Rep. Nate Shannon (D-Sterling Heights), chair of the committee, issued the following statement:
“It is important to move Michigan forward by supporting innovative and convenient ways to interact with the SOS. This legislation saves Michiganders time and money. Legislation like this is ideal for our busy and ever-changing society; this bill will give people more options that work for them when transferring titles. They can choose between setting up an appointment to go into a branch or doing it online, and more choices are better for drivers.”
