LANSING, Mich., April 27, 2022 — Yesterday, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer joined the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) to announce the Michigan Strategic Fund approval of several projects, including the redevelopment of the former General Motors Warren Transmission Plant. The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of $180 million and, when fully occupied, could result in the creation of 600 full-time equivalent jobs. State Rep. Nate Shannon (D-Sterling Heights) issued the following statement in support of the investment:
“I applaud the governor’s success in bringing good-paying auto manufacturing jobs back to Michigan. I’m very pleased to see that GM recognizes the value of our talent, leadership and infrastructure right here in Michigan. This is a terrific win for Warren.”
