LANSING – State Representative Sam Singh (D-East Lansing) released the following statement regarding U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman’s ruling on Michigan’s same-sex marriage ban:
“I am happy to share in the celebration of today’s court ruling overturning the ban on same-sex marriage in the state of Michigan. Many citizens of this state have long awaited to celebrate this day. Not just same-sex couples, but their friends, family and allies. This state’s ban on same-sex marriage violated the principles of justice, fairness and equal protection supported by the United States Constitution. I’m proud that Michigan has become a more welcoming state.”
