ROSEVILLE— Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced an Executive Directive today requiring state departments to give preference to Michigan businesses when making purchasing decisions, boosting the economy and keeping good-paying jobs in-state. In response, state Rep. Bill Sowerby (D-Clinton Township) issued the following statement:

“When Michigan businesses thrive, our hardworking men and women are put in a better position to prosper. By ensuring our state departments make reasonable efforts to buy local, we are empowering our communities by keeping that money right here at home where it belongs. I applaud Gov. Whitmer and her continued dedication to fighting for the wellbeing of everyday Michiganders.”
