LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer gave her first State of the State address, outlining her vision for the state and calling for bipartisan collaboration to address the issues that matter most to Michigan’s working families. In response, state Rep. Bill Sowerby (D-Clinton Township) issued the following statement:

“I was encouraged by what I heard tonight as Gov. Whitmer outlined her priorities for the year. I look forward to working with her and my colleagues to improve our public education system, fix our crumbling roads and infrastructure, and ensure that access to clean air and safe water are treated like the fundamental right that they are for all Michiganders.”

Rep. Sowerby was joined by Clinton Township Treasurer and former State Representative Paul Gieleghem for the address.
