LANSING — House Republicans passed Senate Bill 1244 today, tying the hands of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality when it comes to protecting the people of Michigan from toxic contamination in our water. In response, state Rep. Bill Sowerby (D-Clinton Township) issued the following statement:

“The DEQ should be allowed to use whatever science and technology is necessary to protect our water and the families that use it. Republicans should stop creating legislation that caters to their corporate donors at the expense of public health. The outcome of this bill will undermine our ongoing PFAS cleanup efforts.”
