“By holding session today, our Republican colleagues decided to put Michiganders’ lives at risk in favor of playing politics during an unprecedented public health crisis. As a representative of one of the hardest-hit communities in the nation, our community members are living through a daily reality of pain, loss and grief. My staff and I will continue working diligently with residents to navigate through these hardships.

“While I have faith and determination that we will eventually get through this crisis, that won’t be achieved overnight, nor will it be achieved by picking meaningless partisan fights against our governor in a time we should be working together to put the health and safety of Michiganders first. We must put politics aside to continue doing our part to flatten the curve, follow the instructions of our public health officials and build a better future for our state.”
