Hello Neighbor,
Hope you are staying cool as these days are getting hotter and hotter! It is imperative that everyone has a plan to deal with these scorching conditions. This includes staying prepared to the best of our abilities for potential power outages.
Here are some tips to stay cool if your power goes out:
- Keep indoors when you can.
- Stay hydrated.
- Visit a public cooling center like a senior center, library, mall or other social space still with power.
- Take a cool shower or bath to lower your overall body temperature.
- Make sure you have a power outage kit ready with battery-powered flashlights, fans and other comfort and first aid items.
- Prepare lighter/cooler meals to prevent heating up your kitchen and living space.
- If possible, spend some time at a local pool/waterpark/lakeside for temporary relief.
While power outages continue to strike Southeastern Michigan, we can do our best to prepare for the worst with thoughtful planning and continuing to look out for one another.
