LANSING — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives held their annual 9/11 ceremony commemorating those Michigan first responders lost in the line of duty during the past year, those lost in the 2001 attacks, as well as all first responders serving in Michigan communities today. State Rep. Patrick Green (D-Warren) hosted Mike Sauger, president of the Warren Police Officers Association and Sergeant Chris Andary and Fire Engine Operator and Medic Joseph Schehr of the Warren Fire Department at the ceremony and released the following statement:

“Today, we take time to recognize and thank our first responders who put themselves at risk every day to keep our communities safe. Our first responders make tough sacrifices, and we have a responsibility to take care of them in turn, by guaranteeing them a solid paycheck and secure benefits so they can provide for their households. I am honored to host Mr. Sauger, Sgt. Chris Andary and Fire Engine Operator and Medic Joseph Schehr at the Capitol today during our 9/11 ceremony. Most of us could never do their job, and they deserve our eternal respect and gratitude for their service.”
