LANSING — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives held their annual 9/11 ceremony commemorating those Michigan first responders lost in the line of duty during the past year, those lost in the 2001 attacks and recognized first responders serving in Michigan communities today. State Rep. Terry Sabo (D-Muskegon), and retired Muskegon Heights firefighter, hosted Lt. Bill Mastenbrook of the Muskegon Heights Fire Department at the ceremony and released the following statement:
“It was an honor to work next to my colleagues as a firefighter and police officer in Muskegon Heights for more than 25 years, and to start my law enforcement career in the Air Force. Today, I am very pleased to be joined by my former colleague Lt. Bill Mastenbrook of the Muskegon Heights Fire Department, and to honor our first responders, those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and those first responders and civilians we lost on 9/11. These are difficult jobs that also ask many sacrifices of first responders’ families, so they deserve the full support of this Legislature and this administration.”
