Press Statement | Aug. 26, 2025
“It is hard to know which part of this insane process to start with: that their budget proposal comes nearly two months after the deadline, that they’ve cut billions of critical dollars from the budget on top of the $700 million hole the OBBB is going to blow in state revenue come October, that they gave the press, the public, and the members of the Legislature less than an hour to review a multi-billion dollar budget before putting it up for a vote, or that Matt Hall thinks any of this is work to be proud of. With so little time and so much at stake, no responsible legislator could possibly vote for it, and we didn’t. We are going to continue our review of this 800-page mess as we work alongside the Senate and the governor to see a budget passed that funds the priorities Michiganders actually care about: our schools, our healthcare, our public safety officials and our economic growth.”
