“The results of the latest revenue estimates are a positive sign that our state has been moving in the right direction for some time and that the radical tax and budget plan being considered by Governor Snyder and legislative Republicans is not necessary. The report of the Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference today shows the School Aid Fund has plenty of money and the only reason for cuts to education and increased taxes for seniors and the middle class is to fund a massive tax break for corporate CEO’s. If we want Michigan to be an attractive place to start and grow a business, we will need an educated workforce that is ready to meet the demands of the 21st century economy. My colleagues and I in the House Democratic caucus will continue to fight to fully fund our schools and protect our citizens from unnecessary tax hikes while adopting a fair and simple business tax designed to help job providers.”
