“We have serious concerns about the newly announced personal property tax proposal. For example, how will outstanding bond debt be resolved with respect to our local libraries and schools? Will taxes be raised on homeowners to offset PPT repeal? How will police, fire and emergency services be affected? Our caucus has no details on this reform and will need to review any draft of the bill. A bill of this magnitude should not be rushed through the Legislature. We insist that businesses pay their fair share for use of those services and that local communities not be left to foot the bill, as middle-class families did last year.”
