LANSING — Today, the Michigan Supreme Court held oral arguments in the Bauserman vs. UIA case, after thousands suffered financial losses when the Unemployment Insurance Agency’s MiDAS computer system falsely accused them of fraud. Since the false fraud accusation were discovered, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette has continued to use taxpayer dollars to defend the state against the interest of the accused Michiganders. In response, House Democratic Leader Sam Singh (D-East Lansing) issued the following statement:

“For the past four years, Attorney General Schuette has used the full power of his office to wage war against the innocent Michiganders wrongly accused of unemployment fraud, and done everything in his power to prevent those families from being made whole. The Snyder administration failed Michigan families when it falsely accused them of fraud and instead of comforting the victims and finding a reasonable settlement Bill Schuette victimized them again by fighting them in court with their own tax dollars. These families won’t forget that, and neither will the rest of Michigan.”
