“I couldn’t be more pleased than I was today when I learned General Motors Co. plans to invest $124 million at its Pontiac Metal Center. Less than seven years ago, we were faced with the very real possibility that this plant would close as GM faced bankruptcy. Instead, GM, the state and federal government worked together to create a plan to rescue the auto industry that is so important to our state, saving 430 jobs at the Pontiac plant in the process. I knew then – and this announcement makes it obvious today – that investing in our auto industry was the right choice. I look forward to the continuing, productive partnership between GM, the city of Pontiac and the state of Michigan.”
