“The Senate passed a plan for the Detroit Public Schools debt issue that would solve many of the problems facing the district and would benefit students in the short-term and long-term. I’m hopeful leadership in the House will hold a vote on the Senate plan, which has strong bipartisan support from a majority of Democrats. House Democrats are in favor of the Senate plan because it puts more dollars in classrooms and retains and attracts high-quality teachers, while putting DPS and the state of Michigan on solid financial footing for the future.”
