“I’m grateful — but not surprised — that the U.S. Supreme Court denied state Attorney General Bill Schuette’s appeal to the law banning straight-ticket voting before the November election. It’s shocking to me that House Republicans refuse to protect the rights of Michigan residents and instead try to make voting more difficult for voters in Michigan. The U.S. Supreme Court did the right thing in denying his request and preserving the option to vote straight-ticket in the upcoming election. Going forward, the Michigan House Democrats will work hard to make voting easier and more accessible, and fight against all efforts to discourage voters from exercising their right to vote.”
