“Making Michigan’s government more open and transparent has been a cornerstone of my work in the Legislature. Our state moved closer to that goal today when the House unanimously passed a package of bills that I sponsored and co-sponsored that would expand our state’s Freedom of Information Act and create the Legislative Open Records Act. These bills will shine light onto the workings of Michigan’s Legislature and the governor’s office, and make it easier for the people of our state to hold their government accountable. I encourage all Michigan residents watching our actions in the Michigan House today to make this their priority too. With citizen advocacy, this will become law this session.”
