“Passing House Bill 5457 and 5458, which end a tax loophole that benefited only the insurance industry at the expense of middle-class families, is the right thing to do. Passing these bills shows that Republicans are listening to our message of tax fairness, and understand that we need to help the working families who are carrying an increasing share of the state’s tax burden. I’m hopeful that this is just the first step toward addressing the massive tax breaks that benefit only corporations without helping Michigan’s families or small businesses.”
