“Today, I voted for Senate Bills 61 and 62 after much deliberation. These bills will bring in as much as $100 million in revenue to our state each year, and that money can be used to put health care within reach of everyone. While I share the concern that these provisions won’t protect all seniors from the rising cost of Medigap coverage, which expands on basic Medicare and reduces health care costs for senior citizens, these bills will ensure that all health insurers in our state are regulated in the same way. This brings Michigan closer toward the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act. I support accessible health care for everyone, and ultimately, that is why I supported these measures.”
