“The recent audit of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans outlined deplorable conditions endured by the resident veterans there. I’m grateful that hearings will be held to get to the bottom of why such poor quality of care was allowed to exist, and how we can make sure that never happens again. However, in order to get all the answers we need, it is vitally important that these committees have subpoena powers in order to administer oaths, take sworn testimony and access documents related to the quality of care at the home. I urge the adoption of House Resolution 234, which would give these committees that power.”
