LANSING — Today, Legislative Republicans passed two bills, SB 1171 and SB 1175, gutting the citizen-led ballot initiatives that were passed into law back in September. In response, state Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn) issued the following statement:

“When our state’s workers earn strong wages and benefits, they are able to provide for their families, contribute to their communities, and raise their standard of living. Uplifting the working class builds a stronger economy and a stronger Michigan for all of us. This action taken by Republicans, fully aware that it goes against the will of the people, slashes workers’ wages and benefits, and instead prioritizes corporate profits. Our families, communities, and state deserve better. Instead, they were sold out once again by those that claim to look out for Michigan workers, but in reality would rather deliver to their corporate donors.”
