LANSING — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives held their annual Sept. 11 ceremony to commemorate those Michigan first responders lost in the line of duty during the past year, to honor those lost in the 2001 attacks and to recognize first responders serving in Michigan communities today. State Rep. Brian K. Elder (D-Bay City) released the following statement:

“Throughout the year, our first responders make countless sacrifices for the benefit of us all, and we owe them a lifetime of gratitude and appreciation. That is why we have fought to protect their paychecks and ensure they receive the benefits they have not only earned, but deserve. Today and every day, we honor them and their steadfast pledge to protect our communities, and thank them endlessly for their incredible commitment to keeping our people safe.”
