FLINT, Mich., Feb. 17, 2022 —Yesterday, the passing of former Flint mayor Woodrow Stanley was announced. Having served as mayor, city council member, state representative and Genesee County commissioner, Stanley was well known throughout Flint and the surrounding areas for his work in the community. Stanley was also known for being the first Black man elected mayor of Flint.

“Woodrow Stanley was a devoted public servant, who dedicated his life to his community,” said state Rep. John Cherry (D-Flint). “He leaves behind a legacy of advocacy and will be missed.”
