LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Rick Snyder gave his final State of the State address. In response, state Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-Brownstown Township) issued the following statement:
“Tonight’s address solidified this administration’s legacy of putting profit over people and pushing policies that come up short of helping working families build a future here in Michigan. After seven years of broken promises and problems left unsolved, it’s time we had a state government that puts people first again.
“We need a new approach to creating a Michigan economy that truly supports working people and makes it possible for more families to achieve the American Dream. Fully funding our public schools, creating good jobs with fair wages, protecting our health care and providing a secure retirement — these are the things that will attract and retain a talented workforce able to compete for the best jobs of the future.
“Investing in our state’s future means investing in people, small businesses, local communities and the infrastructure they depend on, and that’s what I will be fighting for this year.”
