LANSING — Yesterday, a bill package repealing driver’s responsibility fees passed on the  House Floor.  In response, state Rep. Erika Geiss (D-Taylor), issued the following statement:

“We have finally removed an unnecessary burden from our hardworking Michigan families. It was unfair to try to fill gaps in the budget at the expense of the financial security of our citizens. Now with the removal of these excessive fees, we have given Michigan drivers their freedom back. No longer will a pointless driver responsibility fee prevent someone from providing for their family or engaging with the full benefits of our society.

“Helping families should not be a partisan issue, and yesterday, my colleagues and I put politics aside and gave financial freedom back to Michigan families.”
