LANSING — Today, Fiat Chrysler announced that it would invest in the Warren Heavy Truck Plant and bring the production of its Ram truck to Michigan from Mexico. In response, state Rep. Henry Yanez (D-Sterling Heights) issued the following statement:

“I applaud the decision of Fiat Chrysler to bring back an estimated 2,300 jobs and make a $1 billion investment in the Warren Truck Plant to produce the Ram Heavy Truck right here in Michigan where it belongs. For the last 20 years, bad trade deals like NAFTA have especially hurt our hardworking men and women of the auto industry and devastated our community as more and more good-paying jobs fled to Mexico. The $2,000 bonuses are great — now let’s see those bonuses made permanent as pay increases.”
